Wisconsin Public Service Volunteer Awards

Volunteers brighten lives, including the people and organizations they serve, and their own lives. Please honor a volunteer, or group of volunteers, by nominating them for one of the WPS Volunteer Awards. The Volunteer Awards program is orchestrated by the Volunteer Center of Brown County and sponsored by Wisconsin Public Service. The deadline for nominations is March 12, 2010.

Every effort is made to make completing the nomination form as easy as possible. The following are ways to complete and submit nomination forms:

  • Complete the online application below.
  • Download a nomination form and return to the Volunteer Center: Word Document PDF format.
  • Call the Volunteer Center at 920-429-9445 for a hard copy of the nomination form.
  • Re-enter a nomination you have submitted in the last two years by calling the Volunteer Center at 920-429-9445.

Each nominee will be our guest at the Volunteer Awards Breakfast held on April 13th at the KI Convention Center. All nominees will have their name included in the program and will be recognized at the event. We encourage you to submit photos with the nomination form. These will become part of a PowerPoint presentation at the Awards Breakfast

Award Categories Include:

  • Youth Schreiber Foods
  • Education Green Bay Packaging
  • Adult Georgia Pacific
  • Volunteer Leadership Schneider National Foundation
  • Heart of Gold Lifetime Achievement Associated Bank
  • Small Group Bellin Health
  • Large Group Green Bay Packers

The recipient in the youth category will receive a $500 personal scholarship and the runner-up will receive a $100 personal scholarship.   Recipients will receive $500 to give to the non-profit organization of their choice, and runners-up will receive $100 to give to the non-profit they designate.

It does not matter if the individual or group wins or becomes a runner-up, they will be grateful that someone took the time to acknowledge their service to the community.  Completing a nomination doesn’t have to take much time, but doing it will truly brighten the life of someone who is strengthening our community through their volunteerism.

If you have any questions, please call Sue Premo at the Volunteer Center 920-429-9445 or email spremo@volunteergb.org.

Thank You Sponsors

Judging Criteria

Please provide complete answers for the criteria below. Entries must be submitted before 4pm, March 12, 2010.

Helpful Tips

  • Be as specific and concise as possible.
  • Focus on one program that most exemplifies the nominee's service. Secondarily, describe other volunteer work as it ranks in importance.
  • Assume judges know nothing about the nominee or the organization, so tell the story as you would to a stranger.
  • Well-written nominations score higher with judges. If necessary, ask for help from someone you know who has excellent writing skills.
  • Have another person proofread the nomination for errors or omissions.

Need: Briefly describe nominee’s volunteer services and the need for these services in the community.

Impact: Describe the impact or difference the nominee’s volunteer service made in the community. Please be specific.

Initiative: Did nominee start a new program, use new methods to solve problems, initiate activities? Explain.

Challenges: Did the nominee overcome unusual challenges, such as disability, limited resources, public perception? Explain.
