Retired Senior Volunteer Program of Brown County Your Help Can Change Lives Use the skills and talents you’ve gained over the years, or develop new ones, to make a difference in our community today. As an AmeriCorps Seniors volunteer in the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) of Brown County, you’ll join one of the largest volunteer networks in the nation of people 55 and over. There is no shortage of ways volunteers can help make a difference. The greatest thing about volunteering may be the benefits it offers to individual recipients, their communities, and volunteers themselves. Joining RSVP may help you maintain and build social relationships, develop new skills and knowledge, allow you to keep using skills you have mastered, guide you to opportunities that have high impact in our community, and assist you in the transition to retirement. AmeriCorps Seniors pairs Americans aged 55 and older with organizations making change in communities across the country. Locally, RSVP partners with more than 30 local non-profit organizations (partner stations) to connect senior volunteers with community needs. Join us and you will choose how, where, and when you want to serve. Local AmeriCorps Seniors partner stations offer many service opportunities from annual event assistance, to weekly or monthly opportunities. RSVP volunteers: Help young elementary students read at grade level. Help in resale shops supporting community non-profit partners. Help build affordable homes for low-income, working families. Deliver meals to shut-ins. One out of every 10 elderly in Brown County are at risk for hunger. Transport someone to local and out-of-the-area doctor appointments. Serve on a board or council to lead resource development for non-profit organizations. Assist at food pantries to serve families, seniors, and individuals with limited nutrition resources. Provide support activities (serving meals, sorting donations, etc.) at local homeless shelters. Did You Know? In 2021, rebounding after COVID closures, 135 RSVP volunteers contributed 17,781 hours to our community! You can find an opportunity with any of the 30+ station partners that see service as a solution to our local challenges. Eligibility Requirements To serve in AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP, you must be age 55 or older. To join RSVP of Brown County, you must live and serve in Brown County.
